Through The Years

1945 About

Established as a Junior School

Kibuli was established in 1945 as a Junior School, on the 80 acre land donated by the late Prince Badru Wasajja Kakungulu, with the major objective of educating Muslim children in order to redress the historical imbalance in Muslim education relative to other religious denominations.

In 1960 Kibuli Junior School was upgraded into secondary school education for both Muslims and non-Muslims. It started as a private school and in 1962, it became Government aided. In 1968 it was upgraded to ‘A’ level status. From 1968 to 1975, the US, through USAID (the 1st and 2nd IDA projects) contributed immensely to the construction of the school’s infrastructure, for instance the Administration block and Laboratories. Other facilities at the school were put up by the Agakhan Foundation, individual members and other parents through the Parents’ and Teachers Association. Currently, Kibuli Secondary School is a co-educational boarding and government aided secondary school.

Value Addition and Support

Kibuli Secondary School has a very rich history, and is respected for being a school of all round excellence. The school has over the years nurtured talents in different fields, politics, sports, professionals etc. We pride in being one of the top schools in Uganda that sends very large numbers of students to the best local and international Universities (Often on excellent academic performance scholarships).

As KOSA, we ought to uphold and always strive to not only maintain but also improve the standards of the school. We are a good harvest of a well catered for farm (Kibuli Secondary School). A good farmer caters for their farm well to ensure sustained successive good harvests.

Alumni are the most important stakeholders in their alma-mater so they are always eager to give their feedback and support. Our school faces dynamic challenges in this ever changing world that threaten its greatness if left unchecked.

About

Value to KOSA Members

Often Members’ needs can be complimented with expertise, knowledge, markets etc. in-house or perhaps guided to quicker solutions outside the Members’ network.

A KOSA member with a cardiac problem (God forbid) could benefit from the professional advice of another KOSA Member in our network who is a cardiologist.

A KOSA member in business could benefit from the potential market that the rest of the members provide. To achieve its mission, the KOSA Executive with the assistance of the KOSA Summit mobilizes members to:

  1. Networking events and engagements
  2. KOSA Sports Gala (annual event)
  3. Donation and Fundraising drives (as and when need arises)
  4. KOSA Homecoming/Family Day (annual event)
  5. KOSA Ramadhan Dua (annual event)
  6. KOSA Annual Dinner
  7. Kibuli Platinum Jubilee Celebrations (2020)

Annual Activity Calendar to be shared by Secretariat.
